Station 1
- (1 on 1, 5 pts defense, 5 pts
offense)
One on one to evaluate offensive/defensive skills.
Offensive players have 15 seconds to take a shot on goal. Goal will
have a goalie in it.
Offensive player will start 5 yards from the top of
the fan. Defensive player will be on the fan. Offensive player will
demonstrate offensive skills to get a good, clean, un-obstructed and
safe shot on goal. Defender will demonstrate defensive skills, good
foot movement, forcing offensive player to the side for a poor quality
shot.
(Evaluators will be looking for good offensive and defensive skills: 5
points for offensive skills; 5 points for defensive skills; each player
goes 2-3times on offense and 2-3 times on defense.)
Station 2
- (Scooping and cradling/dodging, 10 pts)
Players will line up at the end of a run about 50
yards long with markers on either side. Balls will be placed at every
other set of markers. Players will be required to run (game speed) to
the ball, pick it up ensuring they are scooping while running, bringing
the stick in close to the body for protection and getting into a full,
effective cradle. When they reach the next set of markers they drop the
ball and continue on to the next ball. Repeat about 5 times. Will have
an area for a dodge in the middle of the markers. Girls may do any type
of dodge they would like; i.e., face dodge, roll dodge, double face
dodge, etc.
(Evaluators will be
looking for the full speed run, back hand down for a good scoop,
protecting the stick/ball after the scoop, and a good cradle close to
body but no closer than 7” to the head. Looking for a good dodge, face
dodge, roll dodge, double face dodge, etc. Score will be based on a
subjective evaluation of how the players are performing. Score between
1 and 10, 1 being poor, 5 being average, 10 being outstanding. )
Station 3
- (Shooting, 10 pts)
10 shots for score.
Players will shoot from each of the 5 hash marks on
the 8m arc. Players get 2 shots from each mark. Players may take a
maximum of 3 steps towards the goal. Players get one point for each
shot scored.
(Evaluators will be looking for the ready-to-shoot position, maximum of
3 steps, and a good, hard shot with precision. ½ point per goal, ½
point for the ready-to-shoot position, maximum of 3 steps, and a good,
hard shot with precision, max of 10 points.)
Station 4
- (Throwing/catching on the run, left and right hand, 10 pts)
Players will form two lines at the end of the field. One
ball will be in play. Players will throw and catch on the move as they
progress down the field. They must remain in the same line when they
get to the other end of the field. Sticks will be to the outside as
they run down the field. Player on the left will be throwing and
catching left handed. Player on the right will be throwing and catching
right handed. (This allows us to observe both left and right hand
play.)
(Evaluators will be looking for the full speed run, good throw ~ no
rainbows ~ and a good catch going directly into a cradle. After the
catch, girls will run about 3-4 steps and throw. Score will be based on
a subjective evaluation of how the players are performing
(you are not penalized for a poor throw
from your team mate). Score between 1 and 10, 1 being poor, 5
being average, 10 being outstanding.)
Station 5
- (Throwing and catching with another player, 5 strong hand, 5 weak
hand, 10 pts)
Players will position themselves with a spacing of approximately 10-20
yards (distance based on age group being evaluated). They will throw
and catch with each other switching hands each time the ball is caught,
i.e. catch right, switch hands, throw left, catch left, switch hands,
throw right.
(Evaluators will be looking for a good throw, no rainbows, and good
catch (you are not penalized for a poor throw from your team mate).
Score will be based on how many times they throw and catch the ball, 1
point for a good throw and catch, 20 points max.)
Scrimmage
- (All coaches – coaches will select 4 teams) (30 pts)
(Evaluators will be looking at players during the scrimmage
(scrimmage may be full field, full
teams or coaches may want to observe half field 7 v 7) for good,
basic girls’ lacrosse skills as described below, 30 points max.)
